will see that there are many causes of food borne illness and
that it can a serious problem for young children.
Facts
about Food Borne Illness.
Microorganisms like bacteria and viruses cause most cases
of foodborne illness. When foods become contaminated and
when bacteria grow to harmful levels people get sick.
Common biological contaminants
that can occur in these foods. Write the name of
the organism in column A
Ways to prevent foodborne
illness from each organism. Describe 2 ways to
prevent foodborne illness in each food (such as cook
thoroughly, keep food cold or prevent cross-contamination).
Be sure to submit the completed forms to
your instructor.
